![]() Taylor-Joy: I was so involved in the fitting process that I must have spent 49 or 50 hours getting the clothes made on me. We’ve all felt that, where clothing symbolizes a breakup or you have to throw a jacket away because she cried on it. Suddenly, the clothes that felt like a necessary part of him are his enemy. Later, when he’s panicking about not having told Emma he loves her, he’s tearing his clothes off. And it makes his bossing around Emma a little more comical, the elegance. You get to fall in love with him in that dressing scene, to see that he’s human and that there’s a real man underneath. Knightley was the love interest from the beginning of the movie. When you see these two hands touch, everyone gasps, because it’s scandalous. I’ve really enjoyed hearing about everyone saying, “This dance scene, it’s so sexy.” That’s because nobody touches in the movie. ![]() People would come up to me, and you’d hear Autumn from the other end of the house, yelling, “Don’t touch her!” There will be no touching.” We have two hugs in the movie, and I’m so grateful for my two hugs. Taylor-Joy: Autumn, at the beginning, when we were discussing how we were going to do it, she was like, “We’re going to really stick to the rules. ![]() There’s also this quality to the period that heightens the romantic tension, where no one can touch and everyone’s styled in this impossibly extravagant fashion. Getting this film, I had permission to go deep into that rabbit hole. That was the basis of my style in general. That’s David Bowie on the cover of Hunky Dory, he’s pretending to be Marlene Dietrich. “Okay, you pretend to be in this painting.” Pretending to be people in other time periods, that’s so rock ’n’ roll. I’ve always used it to inform other ideas. I’m a fan of fashion history, in general. And if I’d decided to modernize it, I wouldn’t have done it just out of fear of not connecting with people. And I’ll also say the decision to stay in the time period wasn’t fear-based. If you were to take this story and put it anywhere else, you wouldn’t have to change that much to make it relatable.ĭe Wilde: Right. Churchill, an Emma, and we have bits of them within. If you’re a fan of the book, you’ll understand she’s brilliant at satirizing characters and people. Taylor-Joy: Also, weirdly enough, people don’t seem to associate Jane Austen with the word “funny.” And it is so funny. But the most knowingly arch touch de Wilde brings to the proceedings is a knack for perfect visual symmetry, an eye for knowing exactly how to position actors within each elegantly composed shot. Bonnets, spencers, and decorative reticules abound, with a stunning amount of attention paid to extravagant makeup and costuming. What’s notedly nontraditional is the spirit and style de Wilde applies to Emma., her feature film debut. Be it orphan Harriet (Mia Goth), whom Emma is determined to set up with a local pastor (Josh O’Connor) despite Harriet’s affections for a farmer (Connor Swindells), or longtime family friend George Knightley (Johnny Flynn), who might just realize his feelings for Emma if he can stop scolding her for long enough, the residents of Highbury are but Emma’s game pieces, to be moved around the board in any arrangement she sees fit, from the cozy comfort of her lavish family estate. The story remains largely traditional, as the wealthy and self-centered Emma Woodhouse (Taylor-Joy) passes her days meddling in the romantic affairs of others in the small British town of Highbury. But in the case of Emma., that stylization actually serves a few critical purposes, setting up an in-on-the-joke “period piece” while delivering a take on its source material that’s as intentionally opulent and bracingly self-possessed as Austen’s protagonist herself would have insisted upon.Īs helmed by rock-and-roll photographer Autumn de Wilde and top-lined by Anya Taylor-Joy, who brings a chillier edge to the character, this Emma. The use of punctuation in a film’s title can often be seen as showy and overindulgent on the part of a filmmaker ( mother!, Everybody Wants Some!!). But word of mouth from a slow grumpy anger management person flips out on me then gets me banned for asking them to play faster. I have over a 1000 games played on this app without a issue. Just to finish game and get private messaged and harassed by this person then 2hours later boom I get kicked out and blocked because according to customer service I broke rules by asking someone to play faster and turning off chat. So I hit delay chat messages and stop room chat. His response was he was just settling in and quit (swearing) and was quite rude. I asked to hurry up the game it was going to be a long one at the rate he was playing. Played a game yesterday and a guy took all the wait time to bid and pass 4 cards and play his first card was literally 8/9 mins before first card was played in the game. You get banned because losers take this game to serious oh I lost a crown hahahahahahaha. The correction - they should only lead with their aces in trump if they only have a very few trump. ![]() After that, he watches as Classic!Sans heads off to find Ink, though as he teleports back to warn the other two about his findings, Error captures them and ties up their SOULs in his strings after a remark from Underfell!Sans. Underfell!Sans goes on to describe his feelings while he was being controlled by Cross, but as he mentions XGaster, Underswap!Sans speaks up, claiming that he helped him fight the evil human, who was saying that one of them didn't have good intentions, though he claims that the "Sanses" would never do anything bad. Underswap!Sans says that his brother had never done anything like what he did in the previous episode, and that he had never seen him act so resigned, questioning if that was even his brother the whole time or if it was X-Event!Chara who made him become the way he acted. The former reassures him that what his brother was doing was for the better, and Underswap!Sans asks him if he would feel the same if his brother did the same thing to him, to which he replies that his brother isn't too nice. Underswap!Sans makes his first appearance in the episode alongside Underfell!Sans and Classic!Sans. In tears, Sans carries him over to Outertale, another safe pacifist timeline. Maybe that file could be used as is to load our respective translated texture files into the game. After spotting a distinct lack of somewhat complete and up-to-date guides for Sunless Sea, I decided to write my own. It also contains a install_textures.cmd file that I suppose is used to compile those new textures into the relevant game files and replace the original ones. I only found out about this taking a look at the files for the Russian translation, which contains texture files for these occasions. Now those textures aren't directly available in the game directory, I suspect they're packed inside the two files in Steam\steamapps\common\SunlessSea\Sunless Sea_Data\Resources and I don't know how to access them. The same seems to be true for the intro screen with the Joseph Conrad quote. I think the ship plan on the left page of the Hold menu is a texture sheet (one for each ship with the appropriate graphics, of course) with the words for the different slots written on the actual texture, and thus invariable unless the texture itself is edited manually. Thanks in advance for help, who care to read my long post.īy the way I think I may have found why the ship slot labels don't work. But I couldn’t find them in entities and encyclopaedia. (check the screenshot links below) I think there is a checksum between where to equip items and the related slot. Lewis has been nicely woven into the minimal effects that make up the soundtrack. The film was shot at studios in the UK and on locations in Spain. Dialogue sounds clear and precise, while the underscore by Michael J. Julius Caesar features a lossless DTS-HD Master Audio Mono mix that serves the film very well. Olive Films apparent lack of digital tweaking has given a rather grainy, filmic look to the whole proceeding. Close-ups reveal a nice level of detail, though mid-range and long shots look a bit on the soft side. Flesh tones look natural, though they look slightly purple in a few scenes. Presented in the 2.35:1 aspect ratio, Olive Films transfer is solid. With far more wonderful performances than bad, fans of The Bard would be advised to give this film a look. With the regrettable exception of Jason Robards, this is a solid version of Shakespeare’s tragedy. Though their roles are rather small, both Richard Johnson as Cassius, and Diana Rigg as Portia make the most of their screen time. As he always does, Charlton Heston brings his own masculine, avuncular style to the role of Marc Antony, which works well here, creating a kind of ‘internal’ struggle between his character and Gielgud’s. And let’s face it you can’t do much better than John Gielgud in the title role. Robards’ flat performance is a shame, not just because his co-stars largely deliver fine performances, but director Stuart Burge does an admirable job of recreating Imperial Rome opening up the film with some particularly impressive shots that establishes a real sense of scope. He gives the words no emphasis and shows absolutely no emotion. A usually dependable actor, Robards seems lost here, staring vacantly into the camera and reciting his lines as if he’s reading them off cue cards. If executed well, Shakespeare on screen can be truly extraordinary unfortunately, while most of this all-star cast does an admirable job, Jason Robards as Brutus is just deplorable. Meanwhile, Marc Antony (Charlton Heston), Caesar’s loyal right hand man, quietly builds his case against the conspirators, cautiously aligning himself with Octavius (Richard Chamberlain) for a run at control of the entire Roman Empire. Chaos ensues, with both Brutus and Cassius making the case to the roman people that their plot was just. Despite this, Caesar goes to the Senate, where he is brutally stabbed to death. To do the job, he enlists Caesar’s friend, the honorable Brutus (Jason Robards), and fellow senators Casca (Robert Vaughn) and Cimber (Michael Gough), among others.Ĭaesar is warned by a soothsayer to “beware the Ides of March,” and his wife, Calpurnia (Jill Bennett), is troubled by a dream predicting his assassination. This doesn’t go over well with Cassius (Richard Johnson) who, outraged by Caesar’s new status as a deity, begins to plot Caesar’s assassination for what he believes is the good of Rome. ![]() This 1970 version, highlighted by an all star cast, faithfully retells Shakespeare’s account of events surrounding the assassination of Caesar in 44 B.C.Īfter defeating the sons of Pompey, Julius Caesar (John Gielgud) returns to Rome so popular, he is declared all powerful, and a dictator for all time. Filming Shakespeare isn’t particularly easy, and keeping it interesting for a majority of the viewing audience is even more difficult. |
